Welcome to Wyedean Canoe and Adventure Centre set in the beautiful Symonds Yat Gorge.
Surrounded by the placid waters of the River Wye and the breathtaking cliffs and woodlands of Symonds Yat Rock,
we cater for everyone from the individual to organised groups and companies alike, from the novice to expert, with an unparalled range of outdoor pursuits.

Symonds Yat Gorge provides Wyedean Canoe and Adventure Centre with the best location in the country for the novice or expert canoeist. Our exclusive facilities on the banks of the Wye comprise of Canadian open canoes and single kayaks, including all the necessary peripheral equipment. The safe, clean waters of the River Wye provide the ideal environment for the complete beginner to develop basic canoe strokes, balance and canoe control, all supervised by our fully qualified Instructors. We can provide tuition which will enable pupils to attain British Canoe Union certificates and awards, from one star to Coaching Qualifications.

We have a fleet of 12 seat Voyager Canoes, which is a great fun activity for a larger group these are available under the instruction of our experienced voyager guides. We have a comprehensive range of quality canoes and kayaks for hire, Our fleet of 60 canoes can carry 2 adults, sometimes 3, or 2 adults and 2 children. You can also carry camping equipment for up to a week, stored in our water resistant barrels.

In 2008 we are offering All Day Adventure Walks. You will meet our instructors at the centre and then be taken on one of our circuits during which you will be able to try many of our activities including abseiling, climbing, caving and canoeing. We can provide a picnic lunch which can be taken at one of the many stunning viewpoints which are hidden away off the beaten track near our centre. We firmly believe that this is a fantastic opportunity to get the kids away from the TV and give them a real taste of adventure and fresh air.

Choose one of our Race Track Days and be taken around the track of your choice by a top racing driver, followed by some tuition laps where you will experience the exhilaration of driving true race prepared cars.Circuits available include:

THE ROYAL LODGE

Penny Royal was formally Symonds Yat East Station Master's House. It enjoys a unique position overlooking the river with views down the valley and has private parking. Penny Royal comprises 3 bedrooms which can accommodate up to 8 people, a spacious lounge with an open fire and Sky TV, a quality fitted kichen and dining room, bathroom and separate shower room and a boiler room for drying. The extensive well-stocked gardens have patio furniture and a BBQ and great views overlooking the river, and a short walk away are several restaurants and bars. All bedding and towels are supplied and there is a travel cot and high chair available for small adventurers!

Set in 20 acres of peaceful farmland, Holly Barn provides an exciting environment for group camping or accommodation in our newly renovated barn and outbuildings, and offers facilities for up to 50 people. Whether for a classroom, leisure room or conference room, we have 2 specially prepared Day Rooms. Slide projectors, overhead projectors and screens are available on request. Bunk bed accommodation is available on the first floor of the Barn with the sleeping quarters being divided into rooms containing 2 to 16 beds. Mattresses and covers are provided but sheets, pillows and sleeping bags should be brought with you, however you can hire a full sleep pack if you require.

Enjoy the local area and activities on offer but in slightly more comfortable serviced accommodation at The Royal Lodge at Symonds Yat East. The Royal Lodge has a fully equipped conference room which can can cater for groups of up to 70 delegates. It provides an ideal location for training or corporate team-building courses. We can provide packages which may include a combination of classroom learning along with a wide range of outdoor adventure activities. The Royal Lodge has 20 en - suite bedrooms which are arranged to take advantage of our unique position on the edge of the River Wye and make the most of the views so that every room faces the tranquil river.

You are welcome to bring your dog, but please call first. The cottage can be booked simply for a sightseeing holiday, or canoeing and kayak hire, family and group adventure activities, cycling, horse riding, walking etc - the centre is across the road. There are 2 kitchens and dining rooms offering catering facilities for 2 separate groups of up to 50 and 24 persons. The Forge consists of WC's, shower units, and wash basins. There is constant hot and cold water and separate washing areas for group organizers.Our large fields provide the group camper with breath-taking views across the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and Forest of Dean. Complete camping and cooking equipment can be supplied and there are designated areas for camp fires and altar fire cooking.

We have rooms with 4 poster beds, single rooms and family rooms which allows the us to offer unrivalled flexibility. The Royal Lodge has a restaurant which offers fine food which is locally sourced where possible. We offer a creative and well thought out menu offering local dishes and international cuisine.
