The Air Training Corps is a Nationwide voluntary youth organisation.
The ATC makes up a part of the support section of the Royal Air Force, and therefore shares its uniform and rank structure. 1002 Squadron is Ross-on-Wyes' local unit and is open to anyone between the ages of 13 and 18.
The squadron parades every Monday and Friday between 7.00 & 9.00 pm. Its activities are many and varied and here are a few examples. Flying, Gliding, adventure training, drill, shooting, hill walking, Duke of Edinburgh, initiative exercises, most sports, parachuting, sailing, visits and annual camps to RAF stations.
Many of the above are completely free however there is a weekly subscription of £1.00 a week. The uniform is also supplied free of charge.
We are also always interested to hear from adults who may have the necessary skills or enthusiasm and are willing to help out as a member of staff with direct training or on our civilian committee, who are active in fund raising for the squadron.
