Students and staff at John Kyrle High School in Ross-on-Wye have been celebrating this week, after another outstanding year of A Level results.
Top of the class was Duncan Alston, whose A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Geography were easily enough to see him accepted by Oxford University, where he will study medicine.
51 per cent of all students at the school scored at least one A or B grade, with an overall pass rate of 99 per cent.
The successful students, most of whom got into their first choice university, formed the school’s biggest-ever Year 13 group in the school’s new £1million Sixth Form Centre.
Delighted headteacher Nigel Griffiths praised his staff and students and said he was pleased with the continued upward trajectory of results: “Our biggest ever cohort with over 200 entries has seen students gain outstanding grades and accessing their first choice university courses across the UK.
“The increased investment in the school leading to the recently opened £1 million Sixth Form Centre has been money well spent. I am, as ever, ambitious for even more improvements in years to come.”
The current Year 11 students from John Kyrle wait with baited breath for their GCSE results, out on Thursday. More A-Level results on page 24.
