A Ross-on-Wye Church fund will receive a welcome boost with the news that a group of local residents are teaming up to help raise cash for the ageing structure.
The group are hoping to fund the £1million repairs desperately needed to the tower and spire of the St Mary’s Church in the town and in addition to this are also plans to add a meeting room and a kitchen to the Grade 1 listing building.
A routine inspection in January showed up several structural defects.
An inaugural meeting of the group was held recently to outline what is required and to field questions from members.
Members will now set about appointing a committee which will be announced at the first general meeting to be held next month where they will also consider making an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund to help their cause.
