Ross-in-Bloom are delighted to announce the annual visit by the Heart of England in Bloom Judges will be on the morning of Tuesday 22nd July this year.
Following the recent Gold and Silver Gilt awards, the Chairman Mrs Margaret Lucas is hoping that Ross-in-Bloom will be able to pull of an equal success this year with the help of all residents and trades people.
The route this year will be different to any of the other previous years, to take into account all of the varied judging criteria set down on the entry forms.
This year the route will start at the Royal Hotel, journey to the riverside where the judges will get out and walk for a while before being joined by dignitaries of the town for a press call. Rejoining the transport they will be dropped near the Tourist Information Centre.
They will then walk along High Street to visit the Market House before travelling down Broad Street and into Brookend Street.
From there they will walk through the car park, Passing the Swimming Pool, the Dennis Potter Memorial Wall and the new tree sculpture before picking up the transport in Homs Road.
From there the cars will take them along Homs Road, up the Greytree Spine Road, into Three Crosses Road and down Ledbury Road.
Travelling along Millpond Street and Smallbrook Road, they will turn right into Gloucester Road and journey to High Street and into Church Street. At the top of here they will visit by foot the Cross Fields Gardens, the Bowling Club, the Churchyard and the Prospect before returning to the Royal Hotel for refreshments and a debrief of their morning.
It is hoped everyone will be able to help with making sure the whole town is clean and tidy especially for the day, with lots of floral displays on shops and in gardens along the route. If anyone can put out flags or bunting on that day it would be very welcome to show the judges how much we all care for and appreciate the lovely Market Town we live and work in.
If anyone can offer help either leading up to the visit or on the day they can contact Margaret on 01989 563261 or call into Lucas Motorcycles in Brookend Street.
Ross-in-Bloom are very grateful to everyone who has offered help so far. They are especially grateful for the major sponsorship they have received this year from the Garden Store, the WRVS who have offered their minibus to take the judges around on the day and to the Royal Hotel for their offer of hospitality.
There will be the usual Charities Market at the Market House that day. Details are being sent out to regular charities that support this event. However, if you are interested in a stall to support your charity that day, at £5 a pitch, please contact Mary Powell at the Heritage Centre for an application form. Space is limited underneath and only the first 12 applicants will be able to get space under the Market House, but there will be plenty of room outside for others, thanks to Herefordshire Markets who have given this area over to the event for the day.
