New website for health care   13/10/2004

Reproduced from the Ross Gazette, No. 6824, Thursday, 14th October 2004
A new website, has been launched to give people all the information they need about the local health service.

The website will give information about all the organisations that provide health care within Herefordshire including Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust, Herefordshire Primary Care Trust and the Hereford and Worcester Ambulance Service.

The site can help whether you want to check on visiting times at the County Hospital, the telephone number for a GP out of hours, or what job vacancies there are within the local NHS.

The site is deliberately ‘small and simple’ to start with. The Trust hopes that feedback from people who use it will help them to develop the site so that it is ‘user friendly’.

The site has two main purposes, first, to provide a point of contact for both local and national health related websites, including those of the Department of health – providing a national perspective of health services, – providing directories of the services across the NHS for example GPs, Dental Practitioners, hospital and clinic sites and NHS Direct – providing health encyclopaedia, best treatment advice and self-help guide.

Secondly, the site also provides specific information about the Herefordshire Primary Care Trust, Hereford Hospitals and the Hereford and Worcester Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

This section tells you about the services provided, includes maps and contact details, current job vacancies and includes copies of documents issued by each organisation.

As part of developing the site the Trusts are actively seeking patient, carer and visitor feedback. Anyone who uses the site and would be interested in taking part in a discussion group about how best to add to and improve it should contact Euan McPherson on 01432 260 023 or Stephanie Pennington on 01432 355 444.
