Local artist and hotelier Christine Reeve-Tucker has put out a call for bras. She is not short of underwear but wants to use garments to produce a special wall hanging to celebrate the first birthday of Hereford Haven.
Last January HRH the Prince of Wales opened the new drop-on breast cancer centre in St Owen Street , Hereford .
Since then the Hereford Heaven has been able to offer almost 250 breast cancer suffers and their families information, support, counselling, advice and a range of complementary therapies to help ease them through the whole breast cancer experience.
To mark the first birthday event, Christine Reeve-Tucker has been commissioned to produce one of her special textile wall hangings for the centre. Christine intends to base her work on the theme Tree of Hope incorporating text, appliqué and painting.
As a key feature she wants to use bra cups to represent some of the leaves on the tree to reinforce breast cancer awareness.
As Christine wants to use mostly found and vintage materials, she has put out a bra-call.
Any unwanted bras of all sizes, colours, fabric and condition are needed. Drop off points are The Hereford Haven, Hereford College of Art, where Christine is a student and Glewstone Court Hotel , Ross, which Christine runs with her husband Bill.
Christine is donating her time for this special project but would be grateful for any donations to help towards materials.
