Over 400 crews from all over
the UK will take to the River Wye August
bank holiday weekend at Ross Regatta.
Ross Rowing Club hosts
its annual Regatta Sunday 29th and Monday
30th of August 2004. Last year over
450 crews entered the 2 day event, with
almost 200 rowers competing in the Vet and
Junior Regatta on the Sunday , and over
250 crews of all ages on Monday ,
said Amelia Kinsella, Regatta Secretary.
It is a major event in the rowing
calendar marking the end of the racing season
for most clubs. Crews from all over the
UK, come to compete, from as far as Northern
Ireland and Scotland.
All local residents are
invited to the club to sample some top class
club rowing. BBQ, Tea Tent, Bar, sports
clothing stalls are available over the weekend.
Rowing Club will hold its Pub and Club regatta
Sunday 6th June 2004.. Full details will
be posted in your local newspapers and posters
will appear around the town.
Categories are offered
for Male crews, Female crews and Mixed crews,
who are assigned a rowing club member as
a coach. Crew members are expected to be
good swimmers- but dont panic you
are safe in a rowing boat!! Crews are given
6 water sessions to train and practice under
the guidance of their coach, after which
the regatta takes place over one days racing.
Trophies and medals are rewarded to various
category winners and we also offer a repercharge
final so everybody gets at least 2 races.
Approximately 28 crews entered in 2003 a
record breaking entry, the club is keen
to repeat this number in 2004. Last years
winners included The Eagle Pub, JDs
